true vintage 1970's best EVER cotton caged bird in it’s various stages of flight to FREEDOM print dress

with smocked bodice, puffed sleeves, and a full tiered skirt

For obvious reasons —this dress has always reminded me of the last stanza of #mayaangelou ’s “caged bird” —specifically, the last word; FREEDOM.

“The caged bird sings   

with a fearful trill   

of things unknown   

but longed for still   

and his tune is heard   

on the distant hill   

for the caged bird   

sings of freedom.”
